Regarding Facts as Truth In order to address the specific question, first, the word fact needs to be defined. Often associated with information and knowledge, a fact is a truth that has been verified and is supported by objective evidence. This being said, facts are limited by the scope of human ability and reality. Therefore, factual disputes can occur and will examined within the areas of knowledge of art and history. Regarding facts as a truth, individuals can mention the theory of relativism which states that there is no absolute truth, so truth is considered relative to culture or the individual; essentially, what is considered true for some, is considered false for others. Therefore, relativism allows both views to be valid. On the other hand, some can argue that truth is considered what an individual believes to be true. It is the use of our judgement, which stems from reason, that ultimately allows us to reach a conclusion. Therefore, facts as an aspect of truth can be subject to disputes; even if the facts are clear, judgements may differ based on reason, emotion, sense perception, and language. This leads to the knowledge question, to what extent is reason reliable in obtaining knowledge in history? History is the study of present evidence of the past. Using primary or secondary sources, historians try to understand the past using these records. In history class, different historians perspectives are examined on one specific event. For example, regarding German foreign policy, intentionalist historian Hugh Trevor- Roper stated Hitler was a man of ideas that had clear strategic objectives in foreign policy and war. On the other hand, structuralist AJP Taylor argued Hitlers foreign policies were essentially a continuation of imperial German motives and aimed to overturn the terms of the Versailles Treaty. These two historians can have differing views since they use reason to reach a different conclusion. Therefore, it is the methodology of history as an area of knowledge which requires the use of reason by which individuals not only analyze and construct their own ideas, but also, in which people can collectively create meaning by exchanging and improving these ideas. It is through reason that the legitimacy of knowledge claims can be questioned and answered. When disagreements occur, not only do the facts and subject of the matter need to be questioned, the evidence which allow facts to be accepted or valid need to be questioned. As individuals seek to determine the validity of facts, other issues will arise, such as reliability, and will allow them to consider the purpose of analysis in the framework of history and the issue of truth defined in the context of history. The interpretations and perspectives of individuals based on their process of reason will invite analysis. In one case, Historian R.G Collingwood (1889-1943) drew attention to the importance of going beyond the study of the actual historical event and understanding the motives and reasons behind those involved to understand the event as a whole.[1] This involves using emotion, imagination, and reason in order to evaluate the actions and thought process behind an event. However, if may difficult to sympathize with certain events or historical figures like Hitler, Pol Pot, etc.; this may cause an overload of emotion and instead cause social bias. Poor ability to reason can cause ignorance and prejudice, which in certain cases in the methodology of history, can be a limitation. A counterclaim to this is that reason is limited to the human ability and therefore, there may be certain things we, as humans, do not have the capacity to comprehend. Another way of knowing that comes into mind when mentioning reason, is language. So, to what extent do reason and language work together to achieve certainty in history? As the framework of history depends on language and the communication of information, we need to understand the meaning of language before truth can be analyzed. In history class, our class held a discussion in which we discussed the demands of the French revolutionaries which were satisfied by 1794. Depending on how the word, demand, was interpreted, students came up with different responses. For example, I interpreted the word demand as the social, intellectual, economic, and religious goals of the revolutionaries. Therefore, different people reason the meaning of language differently which can cause disagreement despite access to the same facts. However, it is important to keep in mind that there are aspects of truth that cannot be described adequately with language. Moving on to the second area of knowledge, art, is focused on sense perception and emotion. We can call something art because the intentions of the artist are known; something is a work of art if the maker intended it to evoke an aesthetic response. We can call something art as the intentions of the artist are known and was intended to evoke some sort of response. Another individual can call something art by assessing the quality of the work. According to the methodology of art, art relies upon the personal knowledge of the artist and is meant to interact with the audience on an emotional level. Therefore, art and the response to art may change over time and differ between individuals because art relies on sense perception and emotion as ways of knowing. Therefore, it is accepted that there are certain standards to judge art by, but different people have different tastes based on their perceptions and emotions towards a specific piece of art. This leads to the knowledge question, to what extent are sense perception and emotion reliable in interpreting reality in the arts? Upon viewing Jackson Pollocks Convergence painting, I personally thought the painting looked like a child could have painted it, but my sister loved the painting. For both my sister and I, we first used our sense perception and based on these senses, we constructed a basic understanding and meaning of what we were seeing. This was affected by the emotions that were sparked from what we sensed. EssentiallyÂÂ ¸ we were using our perception and emotion to understand what we were sensing. From this basic understanding, we built on it by drawing on past experiences or encounters. Therefore, based on these aspects, it is possible that my sister and I could reach different conclusions on how this piece of art was viewed. In this way, depending on the response evoked by each individual, art can influence our views and perceptions of the world. This can lead to confirmation bias and willful ignorance as we tend to favour the interpretation that coincides with our own interests and experiences. However, the emotions that are provoked can influence decisions and actions and it may challenge us to question our assumptions. A counterclaim is that despite the different perspectives and emotions that are evoked, truth is not guaranteed. Despite the interpretations and the response of the individual, the certainty of truth is not whole. Therefore, it is possible that experts within a discipline can disagree despite having access to the same facts as seen in history and the arts. These facts are reliant upon reason, sense perception, emotion, and language. I view disagreements similarly to perspectives; according to the cubist theory of truth, the more perspectives you have, the closer you are to the truth. Even though truth can vary with perspective, this does not mean there is no truth at all. In fact, different views can enrich our understanding of the truth and different interpretations give meaning to the facts. Management Style Essay

O'Neal I define management as someone who directs their workers, or in some cases their supervisors on what needs to be done by the workers. Management is the person who should lead by example and be a positive role model for the company so that everyone else under will follow. Management must be familiar with the work of his/her employee(s). The most important thing for management to know how to do more than being familiar with the work knows how to manage the workers and be a read lead for the company.Good qualities of a manager is that they are able to lead the employees that they manage. Having good leadership skills is really essential. Good leadership skills consist of having self assurance, emotional stability and enthusiasm. A good manager has good communication skills, planning and organizing skills as well as good problem-solving skills. In my opinion good management skills also consist of taking care of problems head on and not allowing them to escalate.Building a good am and once a month having one on one meeting as well as group meetings to find out where an individual need to grow within self better company and where everyone as a team need to grow to better the company Good management requires nothing but positivist in his/her organization or company (smelliness's. Churn. Com). Poor qualities of a manager would be poor communication, problem solving and leadership skills. A manager that does not know how to lead by example rather just tell others what to do.Have favorites, do not deal with issues head on, and be dude to employees, one sided and intimidate and bully staff is all poor qualities for a manager. Also poor management is one who does not practice positivist within the company (smelliness's. Churn. Com). I feel that these qualities should be the same no matter the situation. Whether at home, social, or work can use these same qualities something that should be in the person and if it is in the person will not only come out in certain sit uations but overall. M okay with my test results due to tested in between so it makes me ware that have k management skills but just need some improvement based off the Way that I answered the questions. It provides constructed criticism in which love so I can do better in certain areas and I am okay with that. I enjoyed taking this quiz because it shows you where you are so you can get better if need to. In my opinion no matter how good of a manager you are there is always room for improvement no matter what and a good manager should never feel like there is no room for growth. Management Style Essay If there are problems between staff, I am the one who needs to find a way for the problem to be worked out so that the staff can go back to doing their job to the best of their ability. I need to be able to fire/let someone go if they are not working well for the position and I am the one that gets the biggest stress from work. Live that being a manager means you have good time management, are a good judge of character can handle problem situations in a timely professional manner and be able to make staff understand that we are all working together for the best outcome of the company/place of employment. A few bad qualities a manager can have are temper problems, a complex where they believe they are better than co-workers and staff alike, someone only wants to do their paperwork job and ignoring staff.This means that you can't just do the paper work and hiring, you have to know what the main goals are but if everyone sees their manager as a bad manager because nothing is getting bet ter then you should rethink your priorities as a manager. Qualities of a person, management or staff, can change based off of different situations in their lives but that is when a positive attitude can come into play. If a family member has passed away you may not want to work but sometimes you have to set things aside and do your best while working.All aspects of being a manager do not change; you have to take care of everything that is needed for your position and just take it one day at a time. Team Work While taking my Management Quiz, it all seemed like common sense. My results showed that I am doing great in the team work area, meaning that I know how to get staff on the same page about all goals and plans that need done. It stated that I know how to delegate and how to make sure that results are what want them to do be. As a team that can be hard but do realize that everyone is different and it takes different managing methods for some.One person I may have to show how to do something while another only have to tell them what was wrong. Managing People My people managing skills on the quiz showed that I know how to manage people in general. That would include being able to hire the right person for the job, giving feedback as often as possible and to address any issues in a way that the person/people will understand and be able to do better with their work. I believe that talking to a person one-on-one can help them understand what it is they are doing great and what they need to improve on thou yelling or always being negative.It takes a positive attitude to have others show a positive attitude even if everything that is being done is not correct. Managing You resell The quiz stated that I am doing a great job in managing myself. This includes time management, using my authority in a way that isn't abusing my position and understanding my role as a manager. I do know that being manager doesn't mean get my way, it means that I am working with others to do what needs to be done for the company so that all staff works well together and hat everything is run smoothly.As a manager the biggest responsibility is on me. Have to be the one that makes sure everyone is doing their best and that am letting them know where their faults are and to do my best to help them fix any issues that they may be having. I am the one that staff comes to when there is a problem and I need to be the one to find ways to fix any issue in a way that no more issues come from the original problem. Conclusion My management quiz showed that am doing great on all aspects of the quiz ND I agree but also know that I can get better with time and knowledge.

BMW Currency Hedging

The BMW Group will expand production capacity at its US plant in Spartanburg from some 150,000 to 240,000 units by 2012. Plans for the expansion are already underway. Imperfection and Faith in A Good Man is Hard to Find and...

Knowing Flannery O’Connor’s religious conviction, one cannot overlook this underlying tone in both of her regarded stories â€Å"A Good Man is hard to Find† and â€Å"Good Country People†. It is often said of those who stand outside of religious conviction that faith seems to come in handy to people only when it is valuable to get them out of a predicament, of which they have likely placed themselves through insensitive behavior and decisions. In such a desperate attempt to appeal to faith, one only finds emptiness and a fate that leaves them hopeless or even dead. O’Connor’s â€Å"A Good Man is Hard to Find† and â€Å"Good Country People† illustrate that the inability to see the flaws in one’s self lead to substantial consequences, where an appeal to faith†¦show more content†¦The grandmother’s bigotry is also on display as the family rides past a black youth standing near his modest home. Her reaction to seeing him is like walking past an adorable dog; â€Å"Oh look at the cute little pickaninny!† (12). When her granddaughter June Starr comments on the boy’s lack of clothing, the grandmother explains that â€Å"little niggers in the country don’t have things like we do† (12). As the grandmother emits racism through her comments, she is also inserting such notion into her grandchildren’s minds. Nor Bailey or his wife says anything, so it can be suggested that they are used to such comments and may hold the same views as well. The grandmother does not see a reason to be empathetic; the boy waves and she does return the gesture. Instead she romanticizes the boy’s plight as a missed opportunity, suggesting that â€Å"If [she] could paint, [she’d] paint that picture† (12). Not only is the grandmother intolerant, but she is also quite vain, with an entire paragraph illustrating her choice of clothing for the road trip.
